Decor: our advice
Decor that goes with plants
The shop's decor is chosen to sit alongside plants: bold colours, simple shapes and pieces sturdy enough for a shelf or a windowsill.
- Vases: plain porcelain in yellow, pink or green, hand-painted face vases, and sets of matching vases. Some are sold with their artificial tulips or succulents.
- Candle holders: birds, parrots, a peacock or a lemon tree in painted polyresin. They are sold without candles.
- Decorative objects: small pieces to place on a tray, in a bowl or in an open terrarium.
Placing a decorative object well
A vase or a candle holder stands out better next to a plant than among objects of the same size. Play with heights: a tall piece at the back, a trailing plant in front.
A porcelain vase without a drainage hole is not a growing pot: to put a living plant in it, keep the plant in its pot with drainage holes and set the whole thing inside.
For pots with drainage holes and cachepots, see Pots & compost.
FAQ
Questions about decor
Can I put water in the face vases?
Yes, for cut flowers, if the product page says the vase is watertight. For a living plant, keep it in its pot with drainage holes and set the pot inside the vase.
Are the candle holders sold with candles?
No. Each product page gives the candle diameter that fits. Never leave a lit candle unattended near a plant or fabric.
